Panama City

So here is the last post from the last port.  We are in Peru today and I will try to post another blog this afternoon - enjoy...

Panama City

The next port after Huatulco was Puerto Chiapas in Mexico.  We just got off the ship and shopped in the port area because the city was ½ hour away by taxi.  However the port area was fun.  We watched some locals dance native dances and heard wonderful marimbas play.  It is a port in the middle of nowhere, but clean and very welcoming.  There was a bar and swimming pool just across from the ship – they were giving away free beer for just about anything.  I played musical chairs and was the only passenger playing – the rest were crew.  I jokingly said they had to let me win or I would complain.  I pushed a guy out of his chair and won 2 beers, which I gave away cause I don’t drink beer.  But I WON!  Lol!

We have been in Panama City for 2 days now.  There isn’t any dock so we had to take ship tenders (small boats) into port which is about 20 minutes away.  I hate tenders, but this is our last one – yay!  B & I purchased tickets for the hop on/hop off bus and rode around it for a bit.  It stopped at a Mall that also had a Casino so of course we HAD to get off.  What could be better!  One stop shopping AND gambling!  Lol!  A way to lose money twice as fast!  Lol!  We didn’t actually purchase anything but lunch – B had a Big Mac-ha!  I played $2 blackjack at the casino and B fed the slot machines some Where’s George dollars…it will be interesting to see what kind of hits he gets off those bills.

Today I stayed on board to write this and use the internet.  However, so far our connection/air card is not working, where it worked perfectly yesterday.  Hopefully I will be able to post this – but couldn’t.  B went back into the city and was hoping to find a supermarket.  He enjoys meandering through them in different countries so I expect he was successful. However he got caught in a storm on the way back and came home soaking wet!

Shipboard activities have been plentiful with 3 trivias daily, “Olympic sports” and basketball, tennis, ping pong etc also available.  I have been managing to walk my laps daily and our cabin is at the back of the ship, so I get extra walking in too.  I played 3- card poker the other night and got a straight flush that paid 40 to 1, so I am still doing ok.  B won a small bit on the slots and is probably even for the trip so far.  We have dinner reservations for the Pinnacle Grill tonight and joining us will be the 2 cruise staff as we enjoy their company immensely.
Hope this finds ya’ll well    Bon Appétit
