Salaverry, Peru

This is the port city for Trujillo, the 2nd largest city in Peru.  We took a shuttle bus from the ship into town and had an enjoyable wander about the city.  Trujillo has a beautiful plaza with all the different buildings painted in a variety of colors.  I felt like I was in Curacao and New Orleans mixed together.  The windows all had decorative grill work and molding around them.  The people are friendly and the city was very clean.  Peru is a very poor country which is evident when you drive around but not so much in the city.

It was Sunday so many shops were closed but we managed to find a couple of souvenir shops open and a McDonald’s…  Oh and a grocery store for B – he bought some soda and a couple of local beers for some of the crew.  We usually get some chocolates too, but B said it was pricey here.
I have lost lately in the casino so am taking a hiatus until we leave Lima in 3 days.  However my trivia team is improving – we have been in 2nd place for the last 5 days – always a bridemaid, never a bride…lol!
We sail to Lima and port there for 3 days.  I am looking forward to seeing this city and doing lots of shopping as I know I promised some of you prezzys from Peru.
Hope this finds you all well – will check in from Lima in the next day or two.
